Join the Jouney
Patrick, the founder, grew up in a family of hoteliers in the coastal city of Jounieh in Lebanon. His family has owned and managed a hotel and sea side resort there for three generations, and that is where he had his first try at cooking, as a teenager. He chose to come to Montreal so he could complete his MBA at HEC, and quickly fell in love with the city’s cosmopolitan, food-oriented, bon-vivant character. “Even though this city has so many amazing things to offer, there is one thing I always felt was missing …the breathtaking aromas from the ovens, and bakery style cafes, which are such an integral part of the Lebanese life, bringing together good friends over great food”, says Patrick. And that’s how Jouney came to be.
Inspired by his native city Jounieh and the Journey that led him to Montreal, he called the restaurant JOUNEY. A coffee shop, bakery, and restaurant all rolled into one, Jouney serves up crispy salads, fresh hummus, robust brunches, mouth-watering Knefes and all kind of coffees. The menu is designed around manoushes, a flatbread that melts in your mouth and is baked fresh to order in an open kitchen inside a special oven imported from Lebanon. Top it off with zaatar spices, fresh finely ground beef, amazing chicken taouk, falafel or different kinds of cheeses, served rolled-up like a wrap. At Jouney, the manoushe isn’t just served savory, but it can also be served sweet, with chocolate variations that pair perfectly with traditional Rakwe coffee, served in its own little pot with serving spout. Open from morning to late night, Jouney serves Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch and Dinner.
